Join our amazing community and unleash your inner musician. We will help you sharpen your ears, develop your technique and open your mind to new music. We will give you confidence to perform for others, and we'll journey with you as you discover that you are capable of so much more then you ever imagined.

SVA is owned by Tim & Lauren Moxey, who are passionate educators with a wealth of experience. Tim is a highly respected singer and actively working professional performer. Supported by a great staff team, over the last 6 years Tim & Lauren have created something really special to serve the musicians of the Shire.

Group and private musical tuition

SVA offers group and private tuition in contemporary singing, piano and guitar. You will find many different options to suit a variety of student needs, all supported by exceptional and passionate teachers. We specialise in contemporary music and offer a rigorous approach to technique, music theory & ongoing student development. Not only that, we have a whole lot of fun on the journey!

Discover your own unique voice with our singing programs. Hone your technique, perform in front of your class, or discover the rich catalogue of musical theatre or pop music. Go to Programs to learn more.

For six years now, we've been setting the standard for contemporary singing training, and we have created a welcoming environment where every student matters to us.

Piano & Guitar

From beginners to seasoned performers, we offer private piano lessons and group classes for every stage of your musical journey. Learn classical piano or specialise in contemporary styles. Want to add a private lesson to your group singing class? We can do that too.

We also offer guitar combined with private singing lessons for those wanting to self-accompany.

Group Classes & Private Lessons

We have a wide range of options to cater for different budgets, schedules, levels of experience and musical goals.

One of our most popular options for school-aged students is a weekly group class combined with a fortnightly private lesson. This allows students to have the best of both worlds and creates well-rounded performers.

A place where you belong

We believe that teaching music is a huge privilege, and we take our responsibilities as educators seriously. When students walk through our doors, we want them to feel like SVA is somewhere they belong, where they are welcomed and where they matter. We cater to beginner students right through to working professionals, and our students range in age from Kindergarten through to retirees. We consider it a privilege to walk alongside our students on their musical journeys, wherever they are at.

Our philosophy

We have 3 core values that we seek to cultivate at SVA - Developing Confidence, Unleashing Creativity and Building Community. We've also written a blog about the future of music and how our vision informs our teaching practices, which you can read here.

Developing Confidence

This outcome of learning music cannot be underestimated, and its impact is life-changing. At SVA developing confidence and self-esteem is an integral part of the learning process, and we love hearing reports from parents about how much their children have grown in self-confidence as a result of their work with us. SVA provides a safe place for students to explore and develop their gifts. They are encouraged and empowered to find their own style and sound, rather than simply copying what they hear on the radio.

Sydney Vocal Academy Developing Confidence
Unleashing Creativity

To provide a solid musical foundation, SVA programs are designed to simultaneously develop skills and knowledge in repertoire, technique, stagecraft, musicianship and music theory, and contemporary music history/musicology. These skills are taught in an engaging manner that gives students a sense of achievement and a high level of musical literacy.

From this base, students are encouraged to explore, create and refine their own musical expressions and to realise their contribution to the world of music is important and unique

Sydney Vocal Academy Unleashing Creativity
Building Community

Students learn music for a variety of reasons and have different long-term goals. Some SVA students are active or aspiring professionals, while others learn for recreation or just to try something new. No matter what their goals, all students are valued at SVA, and all students are empowered and equipped to become the best musicians they can be.

We love watching our students develop friendships as they encourage, celebrate and support one another. They discover a community of like-minded people and a place where they belong.
